Woot woot!

Back on the home turf and feeling proud to be Canadian... well actually we're Canarican. A little bit of dual never hurt anyone.

My friend in LA made me a couple mix CD's and Im listening to one of em right now. A band called The xx, so dope.

In other news, heading to van to rehearse. Sooooo excited about making music in a live sence. We have been doing some home recordings and demoing in LA which is so much fun. But performing in front of a corwd is one of the most exciting, challenging, rewarding, freeing, cool experiences I have the privelegde of going through on a fairly regular basis. Some might find it terifying, some easy. I find it a journey both within and without. You always learn so much about vibe, reading a crowd, your own sense of self, and so much more.

Well, I have to get off the computer and get myself all did for the day.

Much love to you all,
Cami

The video shoot was a success!!! Seriously such a great time. We met some cool people like our dancers and all the film crew. We got to hang with some friends from TO: Jopel form Pilot Agency, our new friend Julia, all the gang at the Underground where we played some songs. It was a lot of fun.

Now were in Vancouver for a few short days before heading to our show in Boston. its for a really good cause www.afathersfight.net, check it out. Cant wait to see Mike G, Stacey, Hannah, Melody, mark, David, Victor , Keith, Tony and the rest of the B Town gang. We have such great friends around the world i feel really lucky.

So I have been trying to get into this whole Twitter thing... wow i say it like its a chore or something. Im loving it. I am all over the facebook but Twitter has been a new adventure. You can follow us at www.twitter.com/carmencamille (notice the lack of an 'and' between our names, keeping you on your toes people).

Well off to the gym here in Van. It sorts my head riiiiiiight out.

Lots of love,
Cami Jas

Ok ok

So Im a little embarassed at how long its been since I've written here. Im actually thinking about starting a blog where I can post videos and pictures and fun stuff that sparkles and moves.

And till then Im gonna let you know what's new in my world. I had an amazing holidays back in Vancouver with family and friends. Then it was New Years in sunny Los Angeles. I have to say living here now has been really nice. the weather is amazing and there is lots to do. Most of which I have been avoiding actually cause there is lots of work to do but Im quite ok with that. This is gonna be a good year, the best one yet... bring on 2010!!!

New Years Resolutions...

1) Do what I know I should do

2) Enjoy doing it

3) Be grateful

4) Give Love

Pretty vague but it sums it up quite nicely ;o)

Wishing you all the best year yet... xxx

What a Day!

09.09.09. seems like a good day to embark on a new adventure like moving to a new country and city. Im so excited about the change. I dont know if you believe in astrology or not. i have always been one of those fence sitters who knows a lot about it but is kinda embarrased to admit it. Well anyways, im a Gemini which means i like change, adventure, stimulation... you get the picture. I am ready to take on the world!

Im sipping my morning tea listening to a song I love given to me by a dear friend. Its a CD 'Chill Out Ibiza' and it reminds me of being in paradise last month. Ibiza can mean different things to different people. I have found that not a lot of people i know from North America have been there. Its definitely a Europeans vacation spot, kinda like our Mexico. I am so happy we went back the second time. We have met friends i hope to have for life.

We are getting ready for our UK tour and really you have no idea how much that excites me. Getting to make music is pretty much what I live for and this tour is so exciting! The UK for the first time! I am thrilled to be going there. Were trying a different format than we usually do, working with a programmer/DJ this time as opposed to a full band. Its a direction we are headed in and it makes life a lot easier.

And last, thank you to those who have been requesting our song on the radio. Hopefully it will continue to be added by stations!

All the best to you....

Love and happiness,
Camille

Hey there,

So things are great here in Madrid. Its gorgeous and the food and people are amazing. Kind of makes it hard to return home. Lucky for Carmen and I that's a few days away still and we have lots to be excited about back in good old North America.

The Indaba contest is going swimmingly. So far what I've heard sounds amazing. Its so interesting hearing the different changes and takes on the song. Ryan did a fantatic job producing it and we love the song as is, but its fun hearing the different versions.

So this morning Carm and I plan on going to the Prado here in Madrid to check out some exhibits. We went to the Royal Palace the other day which was spectacular. We fly into Barcelona later today and are gonna try and hit up a beach. We've been having our share of fun which includes going to some crazy Spanish nightclubs and missing planes too. Tough life, lol.

I hope you are well, I look forward to hearing from everyone when I get back home and picking the winners for the Shine 4 U Indaba contest.

Lots of love,
Camille

Heavier Than Heaven

I just finished reading Charles R. Cross's Heavier Than Heaven, which proved to be a lot more than i barganed for. This book made me laugh, cry and have to sit and think for a while after I finished it. I love books like that where you feel so involved in the world that after its over you have to settle back into reality.

Kurt Cobains reality was a very surreal one. I cant imagine skyrocketing to that sucess in the way he did. So much so soon. And the drugs certainly didnt help. But reading this book made me feel closer to him in some voyeristic sort of way and have deep respect and empathy for him and his short life.

All in all it was a very good read that made me think and feel and learn about a life I was always curious about.

Carmen and I are hanging, she just made up this joke for the news reprters on SNL. It was kinda funny, maybe I will repeat.

"A man in Iowa was pulled over last night by police but clamed because he lived in his own state he was not subject to laws or being arrested.

In other news, the state of Henry go the S#!% beat out of him last night."

Does this joke even make sense? I dont know.

This is Carmen here... that joke was repeated to me and actually was on SNL... except they probably said it way funnier than I just told it to Cami... over and out

Later people,
Chamomile

It's my bed time, thought I would say hey cause it's been a while. I'm watching 200 Cigarettes in the hotel room. Tomorrow we have a rehearsal with our band. We play in a few nights, very excited about it.

I have to say it's been a very busy few weeks. A lot of burning the candle at both ends. But we have gotten so much done and have been having a lot of fun. This is going on week four of being away from home and so far so good. We want to head back to LA pretty soon to carry on with the writing and recording.

Shooting the pilot was a pretty sureal experience. Its been in the works for a year and the whole filming process was better than I ever could have hoped for. I have fairly limited filming experience but the director and crew made this whole thing easy and fun. It's challenging and exciting for me and keeps me on my toes. I love hearing "Action!" being called and the thrill of reinventing yourself on camera . It was fun getting to hang with Vanessa, Tyler and Ross, all other artists. Brandon and Ethan were great as well. Cant wait to see the finished product!

Better get to bed...

Peace,
Camille

Hello friends,

I’m at my folks place in White Rock, yippie... ;-) Naw, some good old fashioned family bonding is great. I've spent the last week working in the day and having an active social life in the evenings so this quiet time is good.

We are happy to inform you that we have final mixes of our new EP and will be getting them mastered shortly. I am very excited about everyone hearing the new direction and sound.

Thought I would let you all know we are one step closer to sonically assaulting you again.

Much love and huggies,
Camille

Hello!

It’s the long lost Camille here. We arrived back in Vancouver last night after a very long three weeks of travel. Don’t get me wrong. I loved every minute of it, but it was such a whirlwind.

We had a week in LA, which was great. We got to play a short set at a private gathering for friends and colleagues. We stayed at The Roosevelt, which is a great hotel on Hollywood, and Carmen and I each got a tattoo. I got two actually.

We flew to Boston for rehearsals then had a layover in Amsterdam for 10 hours, which was fun. Egypt was a blast; we had lots of fun traveling around the country. We played four shows in total there in Cairo, and on two army bases in North and South Egypt. The people from the Embassy and AFE that were helping us out were amazing and I cant tell you how much we appreciated them going out of their way to make sure we got to see things and do things and have down time etc. All the things that make the touring more than just the work aspect. We scuba dived for the first time which was awesome and saw the pyramids. What a great time.

We had a flight get cancelled in Athens so we spent the night there, which was fun for us, but some of the guys in our band had a different experience. Crete was awesome. We got to go to the beach in the day and then perform our last show. The guys in charge of us Geoff and Brandon did a lovely job taking us around with Edgar and ‘Minnesota’. We really hit the town there and got to blow off some steam dancing the night away in Chania. It’s a lovely little town.

All in all I had a blast. It’s back to home and back at it. Next is a tour around Toronto and surrounding area. Should be cold but fun ;-)

Oh ya, I dyed my hair dark. It was time for a change. I figured I have been blond for years now and can always go back if I decide I don’t like it. For now I am embracing my darker side. Meoww.

Lots of love,
Camille

Hey there,

Just a quick hello here saying what’s new in my world. We are enjoying the weekend after our last week of tracking came to a close on Friday.

What a great time this whole recording experience has been. We have been working on 5 new tunes with producer Howard Redekopp. When we started this whole venture Carmen and I chose him because we liked the work he had done with Mother Mother, they are a great band from Vancouver that include guitarist and writer Ryan Guldemond at the helm Debra-Jean Creelman who I went to music school with. Ryan was kind enough to play guitar on two of our songs. He is so talented. Check out their music and get their album while your at it, you wont be disappointed ;-)

www.myspace.com/mothermotherspace

Anyways, so when we initially met with Howard we told him how we wanted to go in a bit of a different direction, less pop and more organic. That’s just where we are at now as artists and people. He believed in us being totally involved in the recording process, which we completely agreed with. This made for a very exciting studio experience. We got to play keys, guitar, castanets, glockenspiel, flute etc. I always demo the songs at home using Logic to begin with, usually with sequenced drums, keys, bass and vocals, so using those as framework we got to work recording. I can’t tell you how excited we are with how things have progressed.

As soon as we can make the time to get the songs mixed we will be posting on MySpace for the entire world to hear and hopefully enjoy ;-)

I hope you are well…

Much love and respect,
Camille

Well hello,

I'm back in Vancouver planning my next moves peeps. We will be heading to LA next to do secret things… what secret things you ask? Well, okay. I will tell you. We will be having some meetings and doing some filming and making some music. I can’t wait to get back to sunny Los Angeles, city of duplicity.

We went to New York last week for the Maury Show and had lots of fun. It was a quick three day thing but we had more than enough fun for a whole week I’d say. It was long hours on the day we filmed, 5am I had to get up! Holy geez batman! That spells crazy in musician talk. Then we got to see the other twins and triplets perform. That was the fun part. Did you know that there is like a one in 2 million chance of having triplets? I know, that’s steep man.

I hope you guys all like our new web site. We are working away on some new music for all you listeners out there and then its new art work and all that jazz. The trains keeps rollin’ along.

I heart you all!!!!!
Camille

PS The pic is of Twin/Triplet fest 08. So glad we got to be a part of it!

Hey peeps,

If you haven’t read Carmen's latest diary entry you should cause she does a good job of stating all the exciting things going on lately. We just returned from New York (such a great city) where we had a blast.

TRL was the most nerve wracking but amazing thing I have done ever. I was feeling the pressure for sure but am so grateful to have had the opportunity. Hopefully those who got to see us liked the performance and are new fans ;-) Vanessa Hudgens was on the show, she was a real cutie and said good job, sweeet!

We are about to launch a new web site. Its time to change things up and we can’t wait for people to see it. Keep checking back!

We are running a new contest on YouTube, which has been fun. People are submitting songs that they want us to cover. It’s been interesting seeing all the comments people have been leaving. There are some really supportive people and unfortunately, some not so nice people. I guess it comes with the territory. You cant please everyone can ya'. But over all it’s been a nice way to connect with fans in a different way. Thank you to everyone who has been getting involved.

I hope this diary entry finds you well!!

Much love,
Camille

Hey there,

So we’ve been chillin’ in Van-City working on new material and getting lots done. The sun is finally starting to poke his head out in our usually grey city. We’ve enjoyed working on demos in our little home studio and getting ready for some upcoming acoustic shows.

Carmen and I just got home from a jog. We are on the master cleanse, so we haven’t been going too crazy. Its been nice being super productive during the day, and just read and watch movies in the night. The cleanse puts food back in perspective. Well, its somewhere between obsessing about all the things you can’t eat, and wondering how you ate some of the crap you did before. Not very rock and roll, but who needs that life now a days anyway. I’ve had my share of fun and plan to have more, but everything in moderation. Except making good music and enjoying life, I want to do that as much as possible.

My best friend Kelly just gave me an acupuncture treatment at her funky little workplace Qi (pronounced Chi). I feel very blessed to have friends like her who are educated about health and wellness and can keep me, and my body in check. I read a quote I liked by Thomas Edison saying that medicine of the future will be preventive. Wow, I did not get it right, the quote was much better than that, but the point is that western medicine is very effective at diagnosing and curing illness, but hopefully more people will realize the benefits of preventing illness, through natural remedies and overall health and well being.

I also had the chance recently to hang with a few of my girlfriends the other day. Such a great time. Nothing makes me feel more fulfilled as being with my friends that I have known for over ten years and seeing how all our lives are unfolding. Its really special cause we come from the same sort of past and are creating such different futures for ourselves.

I best be off,
Much love and peace,
Camille

Happy New Years!

Well folks, its the last day of 2007 and one cant help but look back. Its been such an amazing year and I’m really hoping that next year is even better! I am really happy right now. We have a tour coming up in the month of January and will be posting dates in the next little bit. We have a great team of people we are working with now on bookings, internet and our PR peeps in LA are amazing. Thanks to Horatio and Jackie and our parents and management, we really are blessed. And our friends too, they are super supportive of our crazy lives and we appreciate the stability.

Just got to spend some time with family I haven’t seen in a while for the past couple days, which has been really nice. And I plan on spending the last day of 2007 doing some much needed cleaning and organizing. Not exactly rock and roll but its kinda fun.

The pic up top is of me opening Christmas presents. I really enjoyed spending time at my parents place this year.

I hope you all have an amazing New Years Eve and an even better year ahead. Be safe and have fun!

Much luv,
Camille

Coconut Pancakes…

I just made my own pancake recipe…it used coconut milk instead of regular milk…it was all I had, and it turned out pretty yummy! Who knows what’s next, Cooking with Camille perhaps? Camille’s Country Cooking? Camille’s kitchen? Okay, you get the point I'm sure.

All is well. We did our first in world appearance on www.vmtv.com and it was a lot of fun! Thanks to our lovely promoters, fans, friends, and MTV for the great opportunity and good time.

We just arrived home from Boston. I cant wait to see the live DVD!!! Soon I hope, but not that soon! Lots of editing still to do for the lovely team at Metronome. They have done videos of various sorts with Alice In Chains, Ani Difranco and lots more great artists.

Time for me to go!

More soon,
Caamille

2007-11-13

Hey there

Still here in B-Town. We leave for home in a few days. Its been a wonderful few days actually. We got to shoot our DVD on Saturday which was a lot of fun. We had an enthusiastic audience and got to rock and roll on a stage with a projector behind us, wicked lights and our crazy cool wireless gear...Thank you to all the people that came to support and all the crew that did such a great job. I cant wait to see the finished product.

Tonight we worked on a new song idea with our band thanks Mike, super cool. He's our guitar player who came up with the idea, now we will all work on it and see where it goes. We are also working on a cover...I will keep it a surprise , but its by a hidden gem of a band and I cant wait to play it live (I was just informed by Carmen that she told you which one it was...so check out her page to find out).

Thank you to the people voting at the VMTV contest. if you havent yet it would mean a lot to me if you could. Its www.vmtv.com/virtualkaya/html. You have to sign up but its not too hard so please support us by voting and helping us win!

I should get to bed, Im pretty beat. Thanks for checking out my diary!

Much love and sweet dreams,
Camille

Next we will be heading to Boston to film a live DVD of our show. Thats gonna be super cool. We have lots to get organized!

On a personal level I have been fighting a cold, feeling better now though...sniff sniff...

Love you!
Camille

Neither here nor there...

Inspiration is a funny thing. I remember the night a while back when I couldn’t sleep and stayed up writing the beginnings of 'Fantasy', 'Strawberries', 'Call Display' and one other I never did finish, which are all songs of Carmen and mine. It was a little frustrating cause I was a slave to the melodies in my head and had to stay up to record each idea and wake them from their slumber. Then sometimes I feel empty like there is nothing I have to say. I don’t like those days.

I have also come to the realization that when I am emotionally hurting and in pain is often when I feel most inspired. Hence my last relationship. It was a bit of a train wreck...kidding...sort of. But I was definitely inspired to write if for no one else but myself as therapy. Then you get to revisit that emotion again and again every time you sing it...awesome! (That was sarcasm, hard to get across via blog) I must be masochistic or something.

Later

Back In Van-Diggity,

That about sums up my latest news, Im in Vancouver and back into the swing of things. I'm trying to stay in and do some writing. We are going to have plenty of material to choose from for our next album, that’s for sure! There are also a lot of people I would like to try writing with or continue writing with. That’s fun too. We wrote all the songs on this album; maybe the next one we will have some co-writes. Whatever is best, we let the song dictate the decision.

We had a great trip this time around. Not nearly enough time to see everyone I wanted to see and do all that I wanted to do, but enough time to enjoy the sun and get some work done. We attended the E Entertainment anniversary party were we got these awesome Ed Hardy sunglasses, so cool! We met some cool peeps too which is always fun.

I better get back at it...till next time!

xo

Hey there,

We are back in Van after a very successful trip to LA, Boston, Budapest and New York. What a time!

Lots in the works right now…more soon. For now we are going to post some pics and give you some highlights.

We got to perform a great show at Locobazooka, I cant believe how supportive people were there considering we were quite possibly the only female fronted act there and we don’t do heavy metal. It was amazing. New York was a lot of fun. We were staying right in the heart of it all and performed a great show. We got to see our friends The Trews who are also from Canada. What a small world its becoming. Check out their music.

Now we are preparing for our upcoming show in Vancouver. Then its LA where we get to meet the MTV people who are so kindly playing our music now on The Hills and Sweet 16. Thanks MTV!

Thank you for reading…

Much love,
Camille

2007-09-04

Hey there,

So we are in Boston. Since I have last written we have been back to LA or a few days and then Budapest, also for a few days. Now we are n boston rehearsing our butts off for some upcoming shows.

LA was awesome. We are working on a project with our dear friend Paul Rae...more on that soon we hope! We got to see old friends and basically had the time of our lives.

Budapest was really fun, we were there for like, a day for a show. We performed in front of 5000 people which was amazing. We met some cool people there as well. We just watched the footage and it looks pretty cool! I want to put it on youtube right now but the footage is too big. have to wait till Im home to play Dr. Camille and make it smaller in size.

Now we are in Boston and back with our band. I cant tell you how much we have grown as a band. Its really coming together. The guys are all putting their hearts and souls into this. Thanks bitches! And thanks to Adam our helpful friend at the front desk, thanks for hooking a sister up! You rock!

Now its time for Carmi to write her entry, we are in the hotel and sharing a computer...of course, we share alsmost everything!

The picture up top is of me recording mandolin for a partly pre recorded intro we are working out with our band. I havent ben in a studio for a while so it was a lot of fun.

Much love,
C

2007-08-08

Hey,

So we are back in Vancouver. Yipee! We were gone for almost a month, which feels like a long time.

Budapest was awesome, well, it was awesome but very hot. I like heat generally but this was crazy. Italy after was heaven. A true vacation.

Next is a show in Boston for LOCOBAZOOKA, which will be a bigger deal I think. We will be heading there early to get a seriously kick ass show prepared.

I have officially become addicted to Facebook. I am currently seeking help.

I have had two flu’s and a cold over the past month. I am embarrassed to admit this as it shows the state of my immune system. Don’t worry folks, I have been taking better care of myself drinking lots of water and taking my vitamins.

I am working on finishing some new tunes. I always say this. I guess cause I’m always doing that.

I miss LA. I miss New York.

Much love,
Camille

2007-07-26

Hey home slice,

Its back to being hot as hell in Budapest. I love it. I had the flu but am much better. I think we all kinda passed it around in the band which is surprising since we avoided each other like the plaugue...Im teasing. I love those boys. We are using the internet and getting some small gifts for all the peeps who have been making our stay here so great. Then its off to suntan and then a show at Cream Cafe. We have been horrible with putting up our shows here in Europe. Really, it wont happen again. But we ahould have new dates to add soon for the Boston area.

More soon my friends...

Much love,
Camille

2007-07-18

Hey,

So I have been slacking on the diary entries, my bad. I am finally settling into the way of life here. We have a bunch of gigs coming up that I am excited about. I dont know what Carmen has told you in her entries, a lot more than me I know though. She is good at the details. So far things have been very tinteresting. The communication can be hard, both with people here and with people at home. But it a great experience.

I have no cell phones here, they both dont work. Its been a good thing I think for disconnecting from my usual life and putting things in perspective.

The heat here has been crazy, but I love it. We are prety busy though so no days at the beach, maybe when we are done our shows and tour stuff we will have the chance to swing over to Italy. That will be fun.

I gotta go get ready.

Much love,
Camille

2007-07-03

I forgot...

I forgot to say 'Happy Canada Day!' to everyone. Carmi and I celebrated here in Vancouver and it was a blast. There were beach parties and boat cruises and fun for all. Tomorrow is the fourth of July and Im sure there will be many of our American friends rippin' it up. Be safe! And throw on our CD at the party...;-)

Much Love,
Camille

2007-07-02

What’s up,

We will be posting some new European dates soon for my peeps on the other side of the world. That means we will be heading out soon, cant wait!

I just visited a MySpace page for people who have lost their lives to drunk driving. It was very sad. The link is http://www.myspace.com/kelli_laine_doa. Its actually Kelli Laine's page, that is kept up by her mother. She is trying to raise awareness about the damaging and fatal effects of drunk driving. It’s quite sobering but shows the reality of it. My prayers are with her family and those whose lives have changed because of such a stupid mistake. It really put thing in perspective for me.

All careers have their ups and downs and it’s important to remember to be positive and grateful. All the feedback we receive on MySpace or in messages from you guys really means the world to us and makes it easier to get through the days that are challenging. Thank you for that.

I hope you are all well, thank you for reading.

Much love,
Camille

Random stuff...

New York was amazing; we met some lovely people and contacts and had a blast. I love that city. LA was also a good time. Temecula was such a great day.

Going to the Gwen Stefani concert on Friday, sweeeet!

Just had a birthday, celebrated in New York...you only turn 19 once! ;-)

My parents got me an Ovation Mandolin, its beautiful! I love it, cant wait to play more of it. I will put a picture up ASAP!!! We also got an assortment of books and autobiographies about Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and J.F.K. Jr. Im not kidding. I have been excited about some deeper reading for a while. A friend also recommended 'Many Lives Many Masters', which I am planning on reading.

I had a great visit with my gals this past weekend right after returning from New York. Such good people.

Good things in the works, good things ahead!

Much love,
Camille

Hello,

We leave in a few days for LA, which I'm pretty excited about. There is a certain vibrancy to that city that Vancouver just can’t seem to mimic. Further than that, Carmen and I are discussing moving there, possibly as soon as July! What a change that would be, but probably a very relevant one for our careers.

I have a list of things I have to get done today that I should probably get going on…more later!

Oh yeah, the picture is one I took here in Vancouver while walking along the gorgeous sea wall.

Camille

2007-05-23

Hey peeps!

What’s shakin’? I just bought a Ukulele! I'm pretty stoked about that. Carm got a little mini accordion so we are gonna jam and try and work something out.

In other news, we are working on getting some more raw live footage for y’all. Just a song or two for our myspace page so you can see that we do in fact play our own instruments and sing our own songs. I see a lot of acts that don’t and get paranoid that on first glance it might appear as though we fall into that category. It’s truly my worst fear! The people I have always looked up to in music are those who write their own music and are true artists.

Time to get back to the music…

Love and hugs,
Camille

An evening out followed by an evening in.

You gotta love Vancouver. I went out last night to see a friends band play and ended up seeing sooo many people I know. This city is truly 'the smallest big city'. I had such a great night though. I got to get up on stage and sing 'D'yer Maker' (Led Zeppelin) and 'I'm just a Girl' (No Doubt) with the band. I also got to see my girl Jenny Galt who is playing keys in Perry Farrell's new band Satellite Party. She is a super talented writer, singer and musician. Among many other friendly faces...

In other news, I have been doing some writing with a friend Niko Friesen. He has worked with a lot of artists and is a drummer as well. Several of the songs on the new Adrienne Pierce record 'Faultline' (Nettwerk) were co-written with him. Jeff Trott produced it...all you Sheryl lovers out there know what a genius that man is.

Time to get busy. I hope this entry finds you well!

Much love,
Camille

Neither Here Nor There

I wrote this poem about a girl I know…

Poem

A little bit naughty a little bit nice
Heaven and hell from paradise
Streaking the sky like a red stared stream
One tear falling from a yellow sunbeam
With eyebrow raised and lips pressed tight
She makes you laugh then leaves your life.

Peace,
Camille

Hey!

Im back in Vancouver after an amazing trip to LA. I just managed to delete my entire journal entry, don’t you love it when that happens? So lets try this again...

The Billboard Underground show was awesome. We got video taped rehearsing all day and had interviews in between. Then in the night was our showcase. What an experience. The people at Rehearsals.com will be editing everything together and making a clip, I can’t wait to see it!

We met so many cool people on this trip and had such a good time. We sang for about a-bazillion hours a day and had fun every night. For personal reasons, that are far too deep to write about in an on line journal, this has been an interesting time for me. But life is good and I am the most grateful person in the world because I am doing what I love trying to get to the next level.

I love the sun...

I’m out...

Upcoming and Eventful...

Carm and I will be going to LA soon to do a showcase for the Billboard Underground series that Billboard Magazine puts on. We leave in about a week to begin rehearsals and then we go to the east coast for some more shows. We will update our tour page asap.

Also, if you havent checked out our Demand page on Eventful, we'll we would love it if you did. This is where you can ask that we come to your city to perform. Enough demands and we can make it happen. Here's a link...

Thanks a lot,
Camille

Reflections from home...

Here I sit at my chair wondering what to say. Where to start? My time at home is so peaceful that it makes our recent adventures seem so far away and long ago. I am enjoying this down time a lot. It gives me a chance to regroup as an artist and as a human being. I can be quite social and also quite solitary, though my parents would tell you the later of the two is much more rare... he he. Our trip has been amazing, we met such quality people and had such a fun time.

Life is good and there are good things ahead...

Much Love,
Camille

PS The pic is of Carmen and I with our two BFF's, Kelly and Robin...taken a little while ago I might add. Dont worry, its not THAT cold here!

Tattoos in Texas

Im at the hotel here in Austin. Spent the day working with Carm on a song idea and working on the computer.

Last night was our first gig on 6th Street which was a heck of a lot of fun. It was our third gig with the new band and things are starting to shape up. After we performed, Gregg Miller and the boyz did there own set of origional and cover blues songs. It was awsome!

Tonight is Speakeasy in the warehouse district. I love when we have shows back to back, thats were the growth happens.

As for the whole tattoo thing, yes we each got a tattoo. There is video footage of it if you go to the video section at www.myspace.com/carmenandcamille. Stars in the lone star state, how appropriate.

And a change of plans, we are going back to LA on March 17th for LA Fashion Week and some other stuff. Just for a few days but Im looking forward to it.

Peace out Y'all,
Camille

Houston Highways and Latex Conventions

We made it to Austin after a very interesting couple of days in Houston. The highlights were...

1) Visiting the Rise School in Houston where we got to hold babies and meet lots of cute kids.
2) The team of people that put together the Rockin' For Rise event and the gigs that we got to be a part of.
3) Dave's whitty sense of humor and Joes ability to stay calm no matter what.
4) The Latex Covention that was going on at our hotel. I am all for people doing what makes them happy and this was a fun looking group of people!

The low points were the countless hours we spent cursing google map for yet again giving us the wrong directions. I know what you are sayng..."sure, its the maps fault".

Anyways, we are in Austin now and looking forward to music, music, music!

Much love,
Camille

P.S. The pic is of me with my little gig bag...thanks J-Diddy for the help. Its pretty simple but you gotta start somewhere...and I love it!

Texas Y'all,

I don’t have much time, what else is new. Traveling around has its pros and cons and communication is on the con list.

I should start by talking about the last week in LA...or you could go check out Carmen's entry, she's better with details...and maybe money as well...and possibly relationships...anyways... I was sad to leave LA but excited to get performing again. The final show at The Knitting Factory was fun. Aside from Carmen playing her first show without a flute in possibly...well, ever. And the whole video camera being stolen, that was a hard pill to swallow. Camera, a few hundred dollers, the footage on the camera, priceless. We did manage to post one video up on myspace of me getting my hair done before the Grammy's… riveting stuff.

The Night of 100 Stars was a lot of fun. After a month of go-go-go I was pretty tired that night but there were a lot of cool people to meet and fun times to be had. The picture up there is of us on the red carpet. The US Weekly party was a highlight for sure as we met some very nice people and got to relax a little.

We made it to Texas. Yes, everything is bigger here. The food, the space etc. We are in Houston which is ah'ight, but I’m looking forward to heading over to Austin. That’s where the festivals are and there are several bands I want to check out while we can. And speaking of bands, we began rehearsals with our new one a few days ago. They are all really great guys. There is so much musically I want to do, I can get overwhelmed. There are new songs I want to teach the band, covers I want to throw into the mix, old songs I want to re-vamp with the guys...its hard for me to stay chill sometimes. But this is such a great 'stress' to have (if we want to call it that) as a musician. There is time now to settle in with the band and have some fun with the arrangements. Yee haw!

One week away...

Well folks, time has flown and already we are almost on to the next town. Well...we do have another week here which includes two major events. We are on at The Knitting Factory which is a really cool venue in Hollywood this Wed. Feb. 21st. Its our final show in LA and the best one yet I hope! We also will be attending the Norby Walters Night of 100 Stars Oscar screening event at The Beverly Hills Hotel this Sunday Feb. 25th. Thats the night before we fly out to Texas. This should be interesting!

We have friends from Vancouver visiting and a dress fitting for the event so it should be a busy week full of fun. And we are also going to Disneyland! Oh I'm excited!!!

Once we get to Texas we begin rehearsals with a new band and have a gig at The Hard Rock Cafe a few days later. I am in heaven being able to perform so much. We had three gigs in a row this past weekend and we had a great time. The guys we play with are awsome and our whole team is great.

Carmen's turn to write an entry...

Peace and Love,
xo Camille

Never a Dull Moment

LA is the land of things to do. There is always a party or some event. Probably a little less than in New York, but still a lot to do. Maybe it just seems this way coming from sleepy Vancouver...

We took it easy on Valintines Day after a weekend of good times. The Grammy's were amazing. The best ones I have ever seen by far and we were there! There were so many good performances that gave me goosebumps. We then went to a few partys and had a great time meeting people and doing the whole mingling thing. Good times.

Tonight we play at The Mint. Should be fun. Here is a pic of us with our band and manager.

Love Camille

Taking It Easy,

Carmen and I decided to stay in last night and Im pretty sure we missed a wicked party thrown by none other than JT. Too bad.

We are getting some last minute stuff done today and then its a soiree this evening, actually, there will be a few most likely as it is the evening before The Grammys'.

We will be taking lots of pics tomorrow and will be posting them for you. Johnny 'The Crop' Thomas is a cropping genius and works wonders on any photo that is almsot there but not quite.

Thanks for reading on...

To Live And Die In LA....Is the place to be....Tupac said it best.

Here is a pic for you from the show....

We had our first dress fitting,it acually went well! I dont have to become a starving waif to fit into the dresses! (kidding) I can actually have curves and be a woman! (Not kidding)

I would love to show you pics now but we dont want to give them away. I will have to be patient. We tried on several dresses and had a hard time narrowing it down for the Grammy's. In the end we decided on three that all go together and we will decide on the day which one gets the axe.

Last night was a lot of fun. We had tons of fun and it was a great first gig with our band. Ryan Star cam from Rockstar Supernova which was nice of him. He is here recording an album. And the guys from the band brought some of their friends that were really nice.

We have been turned onto some great music since being here including Mozella, The After Midnight Project, and Jason Hook. All great CD's and great artists.

More to come people, dont leave me!

Camille

Hey There Dear Friends,

It’s a gorgeous day here in LA. I still can’t get over it. Being from Canada has its perks and generally weather is not one of them. Actually, Vancouver is pretty mild compared to the rest of the country but its not sunshine and roses in February, that’s for sure.

And folks, tonight is the night! Thank you to the friends who have emailed their support, your words are encouraging. We had a rehearsal last night which went very well. I’m so excited to get out their and start performing with the band.

After the rehearsal (and much to the chagrin of our management) we went to The Key Club to see a band play called ‘Metal School’. For those of you who have seen this band you know what I’m talking about when I say crazy and hilarious don’t quite say enough. These guys are The Crue reincarnated, only more crude, rude, and loud (I know…is that possible you might ask?). But boy could they perform and sing and shred. It was a lot of fun. Our band is a great group of ‘All Stars’. And no egos at all. It makes ‘work’ a real pleasure.

We will be downloading some more pics for you soon…stay tuned.

Till tomorrow,
Camille

Hello friends,

I’m here hanging out at our hotel in LA. It’s a day off and I have spent it taking it easy. We had two days of rehearsals which went well and there are a few more coming up. Our band is awesome, a really great group of guys.

Last night we went out for a night on the time and met some cool people. We went out to Social Hollywood and Hyde where Carmi actually met Jessica Simpson. She seems nice. It was a fun night.

Shopping here is amazing and the weather is a dream compared to what we left behind in Vancouver. I am in heaven.

Our first gig is on Tuesday night on Melrose at The Gig. I am very excited to say the least.

More soon,
Camille

Goodbye Little Kitties

I just found this picture in iPhoto and thought I would share. Max is a Norwegian Forrest Cat and has grown MUCH bigger since this picture was taken.

On a side note…and we are talking a walk around the block…P-Diddy had twin girls. How cute! Say goodbye to your sleep filled nights Mr. Diddy. Twinnies are trouble (I’m sure my parents would agree).

Take care,
Camille

Woman's Wonderful Ways

Our best friend of 12 years Kelly once gave us some very wise advice - always keep your girlfriends around. As time wears on and boyfriends and partners come and go its imperative to stick by those who loved and supported you from the beginning. Too many woman get caught up in what their partners are doing and forget to make time for the ladies in their lives. I have been guilty of this all too often as I'm sure Kelly can attest. I can assure you though that nothing puts a smile on my face like hanging with the girls on a ladies night out.

So thanks to the chicas in my life who have stuck it out through the lack of phone calls and still picked up right where we left off. Carmen and I were lucky to have an outstanding group of girls to make memories with over the years. Some are pursuing careers like us, some are married and making babies, some are doing it all. These ladies make us better people and remind us of where we came from. You all know who you are!

Lets keep those good time a rollin'...

Much love,
Camille

If I Were a Fruit

If I were a fruit I would be an avocado. Its shade, shape and propensity for tasting great have made it impossible to draw any other conclusion.

Green is a color most often invoking peaceful thoughts of nature-like images, like trees and grass. Its shape is similar to that of a woman’s, with curves and softness. And last but certainly not least is the sweet buttery goodness that makes up the avocado itself. The ‘nectar’ shall we say. What more could a person ask for in a flavor. Nothing if you ask me.

Yes, I do love avocados.

And with that I am off…

3. Gym rain or shine at least four times a week.

4. Be more like Tilla Tequilla (te he).

5. Smile more.

6. Only say nice things about my sister. In public.

7. Get the devil horns removed from my head. Ouch.

Safe and Sound

We made it home back to beautiful Vancouver. I had a blast in Budapest but was happy to return to my own bed as well as friends and family. We did everything there we set out to do and more. We finished our second music video which should be ready in about a month, and we performed seven times at various locations in the city. We had photo shoots, television, radio and magazine interviews as well as two press conferences and one red carpet event. It was a great success!

We will be heading to Florida next, after the holidays though. I am looking forward to doing some more song writing over the holidays and getting the creative juices flowing again. Time to start hearing lyrics all around me and using life as inspiration. We usually start with a melody, or sometimes just fool around on guitar and see what resonates at the time. Then we rough out the song and eventually record it onto our computer. Once its recorded we can listen to it and finish the lyrics if they aren’t already finished. I used to produce our demos with my Dad, and that’s something I would like to continue doing. It fills out the sound and takes the song in the direction it should be heading. And once that is done what a feeling of accomplishment you get! Nothing feels better than finishing a new song that you love and are really into.

From the Pest side of the Danube...

We made it! Here we are in Budapest enjoying the Goulash and trying to speak Hungarian. The flight was long and we made a little pit stop in Amsterdamn, the land of the wackey tabacky. But alas, we made it! We met the crew that we will be working with for the 'How Deep..'' video and they were very cool. Very pro. Very lovely. They gave us each traditional gifts of zuzulos or zoo-somethings (gotta remember the name!), which are little flute-like things that play music, and heart shaped hand carved wood necklaces. How sweet!

So far so good. We went for a walk this morning to the Danube and took some pics. Once I figure out how to post pics in the blogs I will upload some.

More later once we start shooting the video. They have us freezing our butts off outside and falling backwards into water, yikes! Now is a good time to conquer my fear of diving, or of water in general I guess. No time like the present.

Thanks for reading...

Packing Up Is Hard To Do…

Down dubbie doo down-down, cumma cumma….circa 1970 that would have been a funny one. Think Neil Sadaka and an old record player.

Anyways, I digress. Its time to start packing for Budapest! If anyone has any good tips on packing, let me now. I tend to be a leave-it-till-the-last-minute sort of girl, which never really works. I end up worrying I’ve forgotten something for a couple hours after I leave the house. So bravo to me for attempting to get it done early! We shall see how far I get. ☺

It’s always sad leaving friends and family, though from the sounds of it, this trip is going to rock. We will be sure to upload pictures and write blogs as often as we can.

Later peeps,
Camille

Its travel time…

For those of you who don’t now, which is likely all of you, Carmen and I will be heading to Budapest, Hungary to shoot a music video. This will begin our promotions across great seas many moons away. Should be a fun time. I know this because I googled images of Budapest (thanks Horatio), and saw it with my own two eyes. What I saw should surly make for a nice music video. More details to come…

Take care and keep on rockin’ in the free world,

Camille

Good Chowda’ in Boston

Yes, that’s right folks, Boston does have the best clam chowder (just in case you were wondering). And their lobster bisque is divine. But enough about food.

Carmen and I spent a wonderful 10 days in Boston playing two shows and setting up base with our growing team of support. We met a lot of really cool people there. We were honored to open up for Danny Klein (founding member of The J. Giles Band who had hits like ‘Centerfold’ and ‘Love Sinks’), which was a real treat. They know how to rock a crowd.

I can’t tell you how good it felt to look into an audience and have people genuinely enjoying the music. What a treat considering it was our first foray into America to perform. And not our last. We are off to Florida to begin an actual tour. As a musician that’s what its all about. I am really on cloud number nine.

Thank you to our Joe for making this all possible and to the fantastic musicians we got to rock out with. To Hirsh, Bruce, Dan, and Rebecca, your support was much appreciated. Cant wait to see you all again!

And finally, if you are reading this, thanks for putting up with our slow delivery in providing you with diary entries. I promise we will get quicker at uploading them on to the site.

Much love,
Camille

Memorizing the dictionary

Have you ever wanted to just sit down and read the dictionary? I will be so bold as to guess that the vast majority of people are shaking their heads right now (and maybe even saying out loud, “That Camille girl is weird”…heard that one a few times).

Well, here is my dilemma. I want to expand my vocabulary. My exiguous knowledge of words and meanings has gotten me thus far, but I want to know more! I am ready to take a plunge into all things Webster and grow my encephalon. It can only better my lyric writing and self. I’m diving in…gloop!

See you on the other side.

Peace and Love,
Camille

Home Sweet Home

What a trip, what a ride, but have I really changed inside? I think so. I think it takes time to be able to look at yourself after a moment of self-discovery and really understand what full circle means.

And in English, I went to Europe and got to experience for a brief moment what it feels like to live another life. It was the subtle things that most inspired me like the way each city smelled different and the subtle differences between people in different countries. I met some amazing people and some not so amazing people. I literally laughed, cried, and felt everything in between and wouldn't change a thing about the time I spent there.

Home has sunken in all to quickly and now I spend my days obsessing over John Mayer’s guitar playing and songwriting. If you don’t have his latest offering ‘Continuum’, well you just should. It’s clever yet simple and is chock full of tasty guitar hooks.

I went to the Sheryl Crow/John Mayer concert here in Van-City and somehow Carmen and I ended up at backstage at the side watching Sheryl from a much closer view than our actual tickets had offered us. Very cool.

Must go practice now. My guitar is calling me.

It's a rainy day in Vancouver and Carmen and I are chillin' at home. We are getting ready to shoot an intro to our music video for a screening in Boston. It will be ready to be seen by the world very shortly! I cant you tell I'm excited!

We have gotten great response from all you peeps on the web site. It's really coming together though still to come is a tour page and the ability to upload fan photos on the bootleg wall page. Also, we have the 'making of the video' clips coming soon. Boy was that a fun but exhausting time.

Carmen and I just got back from a family reunion in Bella Coola. It's a little valley town up north where my Mom grew up, and boy oh boy, when I say little I mean it! But the people there are incredibly hospitable and kind. It was a fun voyage with the family, its not often the four of us get in a van and drive anywhere for 12 hours together. And now we know why... no, Im kidding. Also, our Grandma Ruthie came along, so I guess that makes five. Boiled eggs anyone? She's a cutie.

I know I have been pretty lousy at this whole diary thing so far. Keeping up with it will become easier as we finalize everything. No more month long gaps between entire, I promise!

Much love, peace, and happiness,
Camille Jasmine Thomas III

What a month! Things have been as busy as ever with the upcoming release of our debut album! Pardon the over use of exclamation marks but this truly has been a long time in the making. So many peoples generosity and hard work have gone into making what I believe is an honest and pure work of art. Hopefully others will agree.

We just had a great gig with our band last Thursday and are looking forward to more. Thanks to all the folks who came up to support. Nothing beats performing your songs and feeling like the crowd is into your music. There's no greater feeling in the world.

I will be sure to write more and keep you all updated about the latest in our world. Thanks for stopping by!
